Consistently bringing home awards from every conference it attends, MUNTY is the world’s top collegiate Model United Nations team. Each semester, new MUNTY members are selected from among the Yale undergraduate student body through a highly competitive audition process. MUNTY attends three to four conferences per year, one of which is typically an international conference such as WorldMUN. In years past, MUNTY has attended conferences in Egypt, China, Germany, and Singapore. In addition to fulfilling their responsibilities to the team, MUNTY members are required to staff two Model UN conferences that YIRA hosts at Yale each year.
Just last year, MUNTY was ranked the number one college team in North America by Best Delegate, which ranked college teams based on weighted performances at conferences on the world circuit. That ranking was not just accidental: MUNTY took home Outstanding Large Delegation at UPMUNC, Best Large Delegation at HNMUM, and Best Small Delegation at WorldMUN, hosted this year in Singapore. At both HNMUN and WorldMUN, MUNTY saw nearly all its delegates claim an award of some sort, testament to the consistency and hard work of all team members.
