About The Alumni Program
YIRA’s alumni are an active and growing part of the YIRA community, and we strongly encourage you to stay involved whether you recently graduated, or graduated long ago. In the past, our alumni have accompanied YIRA members on trips, including to Manhattan and the United Nations, and participated in Speaker’s Committee dinners, talks and panels. Two years ago, an alumnus even helped to coordinate MUNTY’s trip to the World Model UN Conference in Germany, securing visits to the Foreign Ministry and with important figures from political parties. We are currently in the midst of revamping our alumni program, and hope to further the valuable role that alumni continue to play in our organization.
How To Get Involved
- Join our mailing list: Join our mailing list and receive information about alumni events, regular updates about YIRA’s activities, as well as an alumni newsletter currently under development. Please email our Secretary, Bryan Kam, at secretary@yira.org, with your name, graduation year and current city of residence.
- Speak at an event: Many of our alumni go on to fascinating careers in the field of international relations and in global affairs, and we’d love to hear you speak about your experiences. Volunteer to speak at an event, participate in a panel discussion, or simply have dinner with YIRA members. If you’re interested, please email Speaker’s Committee Chair, Swati Yanamadala, at speakers@yira.org.
- Make a contribution: YIRA continues to benefit from the generosity of our alumni, and we welcome any contributions you are able to make. These contributions will help to fund meaningful programs, including expanding financial aid for our Model UN conferences, subsidizing political and service-related Spring Break trips, and supporting speaker events. Please contact our Treasurer, treasurer@yira.org for more information.
