About YIRA

Alumni Information

Whether you recently graduated, or your memories of your Yale days are becoming increasingly blurry, we hope this site will recall fond memories and encourage you to continue playing an active role in the YIRA community.

Maintaining close ties with alumni is central to YIRA's philosophy, as they are one of our most valuable resources.  Our current membership is very excited to cultivate meaningful relationships with the diplomats, scholars, scientists, and politicians that made YIRA all that it is today.  We are currently in the midst of a project that will enable current YIRA members to communicate with alumni through various online fora.  Additionally, we aim to coordinate a few events during which alumni can meet current YIRA members personally and share their experiences and travels.

The events of war and diplomacy that have been at the forefront of the news in the 21st century serve as a reminder of the importance of global affairs and shed a new light on the necessity of heightened international cooperation. Now more than ever it is important that YIRA members, old and new, ban together and continue to grow as an organization. As we seek to enhance Yale's international community we urge you to be involved! Current members are eager to interact with people who helped make YIRA the wonderful organization that it is today. We welcome you to participate in our events and encourage you to propose new ways in which we might enhance YIRA as an organization.

In the past, alumni have accompanied current YIRA members to the United Nations headquarters, as well as joined students at dinners, lectures, and discussion panels, including a theater trip to Manhattan. It was two years ago that an alumni contact made it possible for the Yale Model UN Team to attend the World MUN conference in Heidelberg, Germany and visit the Foreign Ministry as well as provide the opportunity to meet important figures from one of the political parties in Germany.

This year we hope to increase alumni presence. In an effort to reach out to the YIRA community we have initiated a semiannual newsletter to keep you informed of upcoming alumni events, notify you of interesting international leaders who will be speaking at YIRA events on campus, and keep you updated on the progress of our operations as a whole.

We encourage you to browse this site and take advantage of the wonderful opportunities that are open to you. Thank you again for your contributions to this great organization. We hope that you remain involved in the YIRA community at large!
