Letter from the Secretary-General, Zharna Shah
"It
is with great
pleasure that I invite you to the
thirty-first annual Security Council Simulation at Yale. Each year, we
aim to take SCSY to greater heights, but this year, we’ve
outdone
ourselves. My Secretariat and I have committed ourselves to improving
and enhancing the delegate experience with creative committees,
original topics and challenging crises. The result: a Model United
Nations simulation unlike any other on the national circuit.SCSY’s small crisis-based committees provide our delegates with a unique opportunity to work together to develop innovative solutions as they immerse themselves in complex contemporary and historical issues. And, after a long day averting crises, relax and get to know one another at one of SCSY’s illustrious late night events. On behalf of the SCSY XXXI Secretariat and staff, I hope you will join us on Yale’s beautiful campus next fall. We look forward to seeing you at the most memorable SCSY yet!"
Security Council Simulation at Yale
The
Security Council Simulation at Yale (SCSY) is Yale’s premier
collegiate level invitational Model United Nations conference.
Currently in its thirty-first year, SCSY has set the bar for innovation
in Model UN. Unlike other Model UN conferences, SCSY specializes in
small crisis based committees, giving delegates a unique opportunity to
engage in intensive debate on issues of historical and contemporary
consequence while being challenged by real-time crises. And after a
long day of diplomacy, unwind each night at one of SCSY’s
illustrious social events. Dynamic Committees
SCSY committees integrate dynamic real-world crises into innovative and engaging committees, challenging delegates to respond to revelations grounded in the context of both historical and current international conditions. In our committees, delegates test the limits of international cooperation in an intense, stimulating environment where adaptability and creativity are crucial. SCSY’s commitment to an exhilarating experience in every committee inspires our staff to develop innovative topics that confront critical headline issues on a global scale.
Intense Crises
Whether through a video broadcast by Chechen terrorists or a live appearance by Hilary Clinton, SCSY brings the crisis into the committee room. Using inn\ovative multimedia approaches and cutting-edge technology, SCSY crisis managers invigorate their committees with real-time crises carrying far-reaching international implications. Each crisis update builds on preceding events, compounding conflicts and challenging delegates to adapt to threatening escalations an startling paradigm shifts. In previous year, our crisis managers have proven to be eerily prescient. Will your crisis be
the one that ends up in the headlines this year? Work Hard, Play Hard
Whether your spend the day diffusing diplomatic dilemmas or declaring World War III, celebrate a job well-done at SCSY’s storied social events. Check your alliances at the door of a nightclub rented out exclusively for delegates. Kick it with Kenya, party it up with Peru and dance like there’s no committee tomorrow. Just don’t forget to show Somalia just how SCSY you are!
