For each international trip, YIRA provides a partial subsidy to each participant on the trip to cover trip costs, such as travel and accommodation. The trip subsidy is $750 for each trip leader per trip, and $500 for each trip participant, which covers a substantial portion of the trip costs. In order to be eligible for subsidies, trip members must staff YMUN or SCSY, YIRAs high-school and collegiate Model U.N. conferences.
In addition, international trip leaders, with the assistance of members participating in the trip, often actively search and apply for alternative funding, such as grants, from Yale and other outside sources. If successful, this funding becomes available to all trip members.
