Leading a YIRA international trip is a major commitment of time and energy, but is also an extremely rewarding experience, and a great way to develop important leadership, organizational, and communication skills. YIRA provides unparalleled resources, funding and institutional support to trip leaders to make compelling international trips a reality.

What are trip leaders responsible for?

• Proposing trip destination and proposed theme (e.g. election monitoring, service etc)
• Arranging logistics including accommodation, flights, transportation and contingency plans
• Planning the itinerary and arranging meaningful activities in line with the trips goals
• Making contacts with relevant organizations on the ground (NGOs, government officials etc)
• Participant recruitment and selection
• Preparing participants for the trip, including any necessary pre-trip training or social events
• Leading the trip on the ground

Fulfilling the responsibilities of trip leader is a significant time commitment, but its also highly rewarding. If selected, you will need to commit to fulfilling all the responsibilities of the trip leader.
