Security Council Simulation at Yale (SCSY)

Last Updated: Sep 09, 2009

About Us

Currently in its thirty-second session, the Security Council Simulation at Yale (SCSY) is one of the most prestigious and popular conferences on the collegiate Model UN circuit, drawing 500 delegates every October to Yale’s historic campus for a four-day, vibrant simulation of international diplomacy. The conference seeks to create an engaging and stimulating environment in which delegates can discuss and debate contemporary and historical issues affecting the globe. Unique to SCSY are several distinctive features which make it a conference unlike any other on the Model UN circuit: small committees, each with fewer than 30 delegates, providing delegates with a unique opportunity to contribute to and shape debate; intense, real-time crises which heavily drive committees, and which challenge delegates to think on their feet and adapt to rapidly changing situations; and creative committees with original topic areas, which in the past have included a Conclave of the College of Cardinals and an Elizabethan Privy Council. In addition, SCSY places strong emphasis on the delegate social experience, with themed Lounge and Club nights taking place during the conference. Further, with a renewed focus on international recruitment, this year’s conference promises to be the most diverse and exciting yet. Delegates are housed at the Omni and Courtyard Marriott hotels near Yale campus. SCSY XXII will take place on Oct. 29th – Nov. 1st 2009.
