Tryouts are held at the beginning of both the fall and spring semesters. Tryouts are relatively low key and usually consist of three primary parts: an impromptu speech, a group discussion, and a brief interview with current MUNTY members. Everyone is warmly encouraged to tryout, regardless of past experience -- many of the team's most successful members had no Model UN experience prior to joining MUNTY. The team looks for a wide variety of skills and experiences, and this is reflected in the rich diversity of its members.
In addition, at the beginning of each semester, the team will hold an information session or an open practice, where students can learn more about the tryout process and ask questions about the team and the competitions it travels to.
