As an organization focused on international relations, the Yale International Relations Association seeks to promote understanding of global affairs among individuals in our immediate community, in the United States, and across the world.

Engaging New Haven

Several of our programs are geared towards enhancing the lives of students directly in New Haven, Connecticut. Hemispheres is an international relations teaching program for high school students in and around New Haven. This program is organized, operated, and run by Yale students. To learn more, see the Hemispheres tab to the right.

Engaging the World

YIRA operates several educational programs for students across America and the world. The International Relations Symposium at Yale (IRSY) is a free, one-day program for high school students interested in international relations that brings Yale professors, guest speakers, and Yale students together with our high school participants to discuss a variety of international issues. The Yale Model United Nations Institute (YMUNI) is one of the nation's leading Model United Nations camps for high school students. At YMUNI, students learn MUN tips and strategies as well as public speaking skills from the top competitors on Yale's Model UN team. To learn more about IRSY and YMUNI, see the tabs to the right.
