Model UN Team (MUNTY)

Last Updated: Sep 09, 2009

Overview

The traveling Model United Nations Team at Yale represents Yale University at competitive intercollegiate Model UN conferences in the United States and abroad. The Team’s 25 to 30 members are selected on a competitive basis in tryouts held each semester, and all become full and active members of YIRA. MUNTY is led by a head delegate, who also represents the team on YIRA’s Executive Board. Consistently one of the country’s top-placing teams, MUNTY is the 2008-2009 national champion, having won Best Large Delegation at University of Pennsylvania Model United Nations XLII and Harvard National Model United Nations 2009. Members of the Team prepare for competition year-round in weekly training sessions and strategy meetings and by conducting thorough independent research. MUNTY looks for new recruits every semester and all Yalies are eligible to try out even if they have no prior experience with Model UN or YIRA!
